BMW ConnectedDrive
BMW ConnectedDrive offers an extensive range of digital services and driver assistance systems for your BMW, either fitted from the factory or available via the BMW ConnectedDrive Store.
It is essentially a process so that your BMW can access online content in the form of digital features and enhancements, allowing you to keep your new BMW as up to date as possible. It does this via a SIM card that comes pre-installed in your new BMW.

Benefits and Features
BMW ConnectedDrive enhances the ownership experience of your BMW, allowing you to update, upgrade, and enhance the features of your BMW.
This is done via accessing the ConnectedDrive store, where you can take advantage of new features via monthly payments, one-off fees, or even free trials. Examples of these enhancements include features like, but are not limited to:
- Parking Assistant Professional - Allows your BMW to automatically drive itself into any suitable parking space whilst you watch or control remotely via your smartphone.
- High Beam Assistant - You will no longer need to switch the high beam on yourself, as this feature does it automatically, increasing visibility and enhancing safety without dazzling other drivers.
- BMW Drive Recorder - Automatically records accident situations.
How it works and requirements
Once you have purchased your brand-new BMW, registered your BMW ID, and connected your smartphone with the My BMW App you will unlock many of the benefits ConnectedDrive has to offer, such as upgrades, enhancements and updated features available from BMW.
Simply search/browse for the features in the ConnectedDrive store that you would like to enhance your BMW with.
BMW operating system 9 is the latest operating system which takes advantage of the features available. Some older operating systems in older BMW models will be able to access certain features, but not the latest features intended for use in the latest BMW operating system.

BMW ConnectedDrive is available if your BMW is from 2013 onwards, as there will be a SIM card permanently installed as it is a basic requirement for the ConnectedDrive to work, as well as meeting legal requirements. However, as older models use different BMW Operating Systems, not all the latest features available in the ConnectedDrive store will be compatible due to outdated BMW operating systems. Always check if your BMW Operating System to ensure the features are available for your BMW model.
BMW ConnectedDrive is free for the first three months with any new BMW, but then, you can continue the services via a subscription. You can tailor your features, along with paying one-off fees for things like Active Cruise Control, and take advantage of free trails, where available.
